말씀대로 산다는 것을 어렵게 여기는 것은 말씀을 육신으로 지키려하기 때문입니다. 육신으로 무엇을 지켜내려고 하는 것은 비단 성경이 아니어도 힘듭니다. 사람이 지속적으로 어떤 기준을 행동으로 지켜내는 것은 그것이 무엇이라도 힘든, 아니 불가능합니다. 그게 쉬운 것이라면 사람들이 노력한다거나 도전한다는 것과 같은 것을 숭고하게 여길 리가 없습니다.
문제는 세상의 어떤 일들은 지켜내지 못해도 괜찮지만 성경은 어느 하나, 일점일획이라도 지켜내지 못하면 구원을 받을 수 없고, 그렇게 간절하게 바라는 내세의 소망이 사라지게 되는 일입니다. 그러니까 이것은 절대 절명의 일이라는 것입니다. 그런데 더 놀라운 것은 그것을 알면서도 끊임없이 노력한다는 것만으로 본분을 다한 것이라고 스스로 위로하고 있다는 점이 아주 놀라운 것입니다.
또 다른 각도에서 보겠습니다. 모든 신앙인들이 예수님을 따라 간다고 하고 예수님을 닮기 원하고 있고 예수님도 우리가 다 예수님과 같아져야 한다고 말씀하셨습니다. 그렇다면 예수님께서 율법의 완성이시니 당연히 율법의 완성을 꿈꾸고, 그렇게 될 수 있다는 것을 믿어야 함에도 불구하고, 사람들은 “성경을 어떻게 다 지켜낼 수 있나? 그냥 그렇게 노력하면서 사는 거지…”라고 말하고 만다는 것입니다.
예수를 믿는다면 예수님께서 ‘되어라’고 말씀하신 것은 그렇다 쳐도, 예수님께서 될 것이라고 하신 것은 자기 일이 되어야 하는 것으로 알아야 하지 않겠습니까? 그리고 혹시 그것이 되지 않으면 정말로 자신이 예수를 잘 믿고 있는지 돌아보든지, 아니면 예수님과 기독교가 사기라고 확증하고 떠나든지 해야 하는 것이지, 예수님께서 된다고 하신 것이 아직 자기에게 이루어지지 않았는데 그것이 당연하다는 듯 인생이란 그런 것이라며 태연하게 사는 것은 용감한 것인지, 미련한 것인지 참 답답합니다. 아마 대부분은 그런 태연함을 자신이 예수를 잘 믿고 있는 증거라고 생각하기에 그럴 것입니다. 그래서 안다고 확신하는 것 만한 낭패가 없는 것이기도 합니다.
바울 사도는 로마의 성도들에게 <이제는 자다가 깰 때>라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 잔다는 것은 살아있지만 기능을 하지 않고 있는 상태를 말합니다. 하나님의 관점에서 보면, 하나님께서 사람을 지으신 목적을 수행할 수 있는 육신을 가진 사람으로서 준비가 되었지만, 아직 그 육신을 하나님의 의를 위하여 사용하지 않고 있는 상태라고 말할 수 있는 것입니다. 그런 상태에서 깨라는 것입니다.
이것은 앞서서 말씀드린 것과 같이, 예수님께서 율법의 완성이시니, 예수님을 따라 그리스도의 생명을 가진 사람으로 사는 하나님의 아들은 율법을 이룰 수 없으니 노력하면서 평생을 사는 것이라고 생각하는 그 부질없는 확신에서 깰 때라는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 율법을 완성할 수 없다는 생각, 율법을 행위로 지키는 것이라고 생각하고 살기에 그것을 지키는 것은 한계가 있다고 여기는 생각에서 깰 때라는 것입니다.
성경이 말씀하시는 어두운 때는 창세기 1장에 나오는 것과 같이 하나님의 세계가 자신에게 열리지 않은 사람의 상태입니다. 그래서 예수님께서는 낮에 속한 자는 다시는 어두움에 속하지 않는다고 하신 것입니다. 그러니까 하나님의 세계가 열린 사람, 하나님께서 사람 지으신 목적이 자기 삶의 의미와 목적이 된 사람은 더 이상 어두움에 거하지 않는다는 것이나, 이미 목욕한 자는 다시 씻을 이유가 없다는 말씀이나, 예수님이 누군지 아는 사람은 그 속에서 생수가 영원히 흘러넘칠 것이라는 말씀은 다 이와 같은 의미입니다.
사람이 어둡다는 것은 자기가 무엇을 하는지, 어디로 가는지, 왜 사는지 알지 못하는 것을 말씀하시는 것입니다. 이것은 인생 전체가 아니라 사람들이 살아가는 작은 세계에도 같습니다. 글을 모르면 문맹이고, 컴퓨터를 모르면 컴맹인 것이 그것입니다. 따라서 사람은 자기가 왜 사는지를 알게 되면 더 이상 어둡지 않습니다. 그것에 대하여 다시 깨달아야 할 이유가 없습니다. 인생은 하나고 한번 뿐인데 두 가지 목적이 있을 수 없는 것입니다.
창세기라는 것이 물리적 세상을 만드신 것에 대한 말씀이 아니라, 한 사람에게 하나님의 세계가 열리는 것에 관한 것이라는 것은 이미 창세기에 대한 포스팅과 여러 글에서 말씀을 드렸습니다. 창세기가 말씀하시는 그 세상이 열리기 전의 상태가 바로 ‘흑암이 혼돈하고 땅은 깊은 위에 있고’입니다. 즉 하나님의 성품을 표현하기 위하여 만들어진 존재에게 하나님의 의가 열리지 않으면 그것이 흑암이고 그것이 혼돈이며 깊은 것(땅=사람)입니다.
바울 사도가 말씀하시는 자는 상태가 바로 이것입니다. 하나님께서 그 뜻하신 대로 우리에게 생명을 주셨는데 그 생명이 하나님의 뜻하신 대로 살지 않고 있는 상태가 바로 자고 있는 상태라는 것입니다. 그것이 밤이 깊은 상태라는 것입니다. 그래서 율법에 대하여 예수 그리스도께서 전하신 복음에 대하여 그 의미를 잘 알지 못하여 하나님의 계획과 반대 방향인 육신으로 지켜 의에 이른다고 생각하는 그 어두움에서 이제 깰 때라는 것입니다. 사람은 율법을 완성시킬 수 없다는 어두움에서 깰 때라는 것입니다. 성경을 다 지켜내는 것이라는 꿈만 꾸고 있는 밤과 잠에서 깰 때라는 것입니다.
그리고 그렇게 깨어나면 그리스도의 일을 도모한다는 것입니다. 이것은 너무 당연한 말씀입니다. 사람이 하나님의 의와 성품으로 살아가는 존재가 된 것이 바로 그리스도로, 그리스도 안에서 사는 것입니다. 사람이 하나님께서 뜻하신 대로 그리스도로 살지 못하는 것이 어두움이니 그 어두움과 잠에서 깨어 낮이 되었다는 것은 그리스도의 생명으로 거듭난 것입니다.
그러니 그때는 자기가 다시 어두움으로 가려해도 그 조차 어려운 것이 되는 것입니다. 그리스도 안에서, 그리스도로, 그리스도와 함께 아들의 삶을 살 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 자기가 싫어도 몰라도 이미 율법이 완성된 삶을 사는 것입니다. 살다보면 자신이 모든 성경을 지키고 있다는 것을 알게 되는 상태입니다. 그러니 그 상태는 어둡지 않습니다. 그리스도로 사는 것이 존재의 목적인데, 그 목적 안에서 사는 인생이 어두울 수 없기 때문입니다. 그 상태는 다시 죄를 씻으려 해도 죄를 찾을 수 없습니다. 성경이 말씀하시는 죄는 하나님께서 정한 자리를 벗어난 것인데, 하나님이 정한 자리에서 그 뜻하신 의가 자기 생명과 본성이 되었으니 죄가 없는 것입니다.
그리고 이것이 영원한 그리스도의 생명으로 거듭난 것입니다. 그리고 그렇게 하나님의 의가 자기 안에 있으니 그것이 곧 말씀이 육신이 된 것입니다. 그러니 그 사람 안에서는 모든 것이 하나님의 말씀으로 나오게 되는 것입니다. 그러니 사나 죽으나 주를 위한 삶이 되고, 먹으나 마시나 주를 위한 삶이 되며, 그 속에서 생명의 말씀이 나타나는 것입니다. 바울 사도는 지금 이것을 말씀하시고 있는 것입니다.
그러므로 성경을 지킨다고, 성경대로 산다면서 성경에 나오는 문자대로 자기 행동을 맞추려는 삶을 사는 것이 바로 어두움입니다. 그것이 자고 있는 것입니다. 그런 삶은 방탕하지 않고 육신의 일을 도모하지 않는 것 같지만, 육신으로 하나님의 의를 이루려하니 그것이 진정한 육신의 일입니다. 그리고 그렇게 성경을 지켜서 얻고자 하는 것도 육신의 삶에 대한 복이니 더 말할 것도 없습니다. 그리고 술 마시지 않으려 해도, 호색하지 않으려 해도, 술을 마시지 않으려 참는다는 자체가 이미 술을 이기지 못한 것이고, 예수님의 말씀과 같이 마음으로 음욕을 품으면 이미 다 간음한 것이며, 사람은 하나님의 의를 나타낼 존재인데, 자기가 의를 가지고 살면 이것이 진정한 동성애고 호색하는 것입니다.
바울 사도가 이 말씀을 하는 것은 바울 사도가 이것을 전하기 전에는 알지 못했던 것인데 이제는 알게 되었으니 그렇게 살라는 것입니다. 율법이 있어야, 할례를 받아야, 교회에서 세례를 받아야, 성경을 많이 읽어야, 기도를 많이 해야, 십일조를 꼬박꼬박 내어야 하나님 앞에서 의로워진다는 어두운 잠에서 이제 깨라는 것입니다.
그리스도의 생명이 자기 생명이 된 낮이 되면 그냥 살 뿐인데 성경이 다지켜질 것이고, 항상 바라는 것이 그리스도의 생명이니 쉬지 않고 기도하는 것이며, 자기가 존재했다는 자체가 감사한 사람이니 범사에 감사할 것이며, 자기 삶이 온전히 하나님께 산 제사로 드려졌으니 십의 일이 아니라 전부가 드려진 사람이 되는 것입니다.

Let's look at it from another angle. All believers are following Jesus and want to resemble Jesus, and Jesus said that we should all be like Jesus. So, even though Jesus is the perfection of the law and naturally dreams of the fulfillment of the law and must believe that it can be done, people will say, "How can I keep the Bible?
