예수님을 믿는다는 것은 십자가를 지고 예수님을 따라 가는 것입니다. 따라 간다는 것은 이미 예수님께서 가셨다는 것입니다. 즉 어떤 것이 십자가를 지는 것인지 답이 있고, 표본이 있고, 기준이 있다는 것입니다. 그러나 그것이 예수님과 같이 육신으로 십자가를 지는 것을 말씀하는 것이 아닙니다. 만약 어이없게도 육신으로 십자가를 지고 못 박히는 것이 예수님을 따라 십자가를 지는 것이라고 여긴다면 그런 사람은 로마서에서 바울 사도가 책망하고 있는 행위로 하나님 앞에서 의롭게 되려는 사람일 것입니다.
