(빌립보서 2:12-18) 바울사도의 자랑

바울사도는 빌립보서의 성도들이 구원을 이루는 삶을 살기를 권면하였습니다. 그리스도의 마음을 품고 그 마음이 육신으로 표현되는 삶을 살아라는 것입니다. 그것이 구원을 이루는 것이라는 것입니다. 즉 그리스도의 마음을 가진 것이 구원이고, 그 구원이 속심령이 된 사람이 속에 있는 그리스도의 마음을 표현해내는 것이 바로 구원을 이루는 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

그리고 그러한 삶은 세상을 생명으로 밝힐 것이라고 했습니다. 그리스도의 마음으로 사는 것이 세상을 밝힌다는 것은 세상은 그리스도에 대하여 어둡다는 것입니다. 그리고 그것이 생명의 밝음이라는 세상은 생명이 없다는 것입니다. 교회가 많다고, 교회에 다니는 사람이 많다고 세상이 그리스도에 대하여 밝은 것이 아닙니다. 육신이 숨쉬고 있다고 생명이 있는 것이 아니라는 것입니다. 그리스도의 본성이 심령에서 본성이 되어 그것이 삶으로 나오는 것이 아니라, 성경을 읽고 그것을 행동으로 지켜내면 구원을 받은 삶이라고 여기는 것은 넘쳐나지만 그것은 어두움이고 사망이라는 것입니다. 방향을 반대로 가고 있는데 길을 알고 있다고 할 수는 없는 것이기 때문입니다.

그렇다면 세상을 밝히는 생명은 어떤 것일까요? 그것은 앞서 언급한 그리스도의 마음을 품어 그 마음이 육신으로 나타나고 표현되는 것을 말하는 것입니다. 신앙인들은 그것을 참 영광스러운 것이라고 생각합니다. 예수 잘 믿으면 육신의 삶이 복을 얻는 것이라 생각하기에, 사업에 성공해서 아까운 돈을 헌금으로 내면 그것이 십자가고 예수님을 위한 것이라고 여기며 신앙이 좋은 것이라고 생각하기에 교회에서 그것을 영광스럽게 여깁니다. 다 바보 같은 짓입니다.

그리스도의 마음을 가지고서 살아가는 것은 의인이신 예수님께서 세상의 법과 가치관, 다시 말해서 육신의 복락이 하나님의 은혜라고 생각하는 그 가치관으로 볼 때 너무나 죄인이라서 하나님의 아들이 죄인이 되어 그들을 위하여 세상의 법에 의하여 죄인이 되는 마음입니다. 그런데 세상의 가치관과 동일한 성공을 단지 신앙의 이름을 빌어 이루었다고 그것이 하나님께 영광이 되고 예수 잘 믿는 것이 될 수는 없는 것입니다. 그것이 아니라는 것입니다.

예수님과 바울은 세상의 주재이신 하나님이 보실 때 의롭고 선한 일을 했지만 세상의 가치관(눈에 보이는 것을 본질로 보는 가치관)으로 볼 때 패자고 죄인이 되었기에 십자가를 지고 옥에 갇힌 것입니다. 그런 예수님과 바울사도가 자랑하는 것은 자신과 같은 마음으로 사는 사람을 자랑하는 것입니다. 그것이 바울사도가 자랑하는 유일한 것입니다.

그러나 내게는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 십자가 외에 결코 자랑할 것이 없으니 그리스도로 말미암아 세상이 나를 대하여 십자가에 못 박히고 내가 또한 세상을 대하여 그러하니라(갈 6:14)

The apostle of Paul and the pride of Christ is not a success in the world, even if it is accomplished by praying and believing in God. It is not obtained by praying for world competitiveness.
