(빌립보서 3:1-16) 푯대를 향하여

푯대를 향하여 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님이 위에서 부르신 부름의 상을 위하여 좇아가노라(빌 3:14)

바울사도 자신이 아직 잡을 것으로 여기지 않고 빌립보의 성도들에게 기뻐하라고 권면하는 그 날에도 푯대를 향하여 좇아가고 있다고 말씀하고 있습니다. 많은 사람들은 이 말씀을 아주 쉽게 생각합니다. 그냥 단순하게 ‘신앙의 대 사도인 바울에게도 예수를 믿는다는 것은 평생 노력해야 하는 것이구나!’라고.

하지만 바울사도가 말하고 있는 이 <푯대>는 구원이나 천국에 가는 것이 아닙니다. 행위로 의로워지는 것은 더더욱 아닙니다. 그러니까 예수 열심히 믿어서 세상의 관점으로 볼 때 전혀 실수도 하지 않는 사람이 된다는 의미가 아니라는 것입니다. 그러나 많은 사람들이 이것을 그렇게 생각합니다. 그렇기 때문에 구원도 받은 것으로 믿지만 아직은 이루어지지 않았고, 죽어서 천국 가는 것으로 완성된다고 생각합니다. 그래서 자기 행동을 늘 단속하고 절제하므로 행위로 의로워지려고 합니다.

그러나 바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 이 <푯대>는 자신에게 임하신 하나님의 의를 자기 육신으로 다 소비하는 것을 말씀하는 것입니다. 빌립보의 성도들에게 “구원을 이루라!”고 권면하고 있는 바울사도가 자신이 아직 구원을 이루지 못해서 구원이라는 푯대를 향하여 가고 있다고 믿을 것이 아니라면 이 말씀은 구원을 받는 것에 관한 것이 아닙니다. 또한 바울사도가 행위로 의로워짐을 이야기 하는 사람이라고 믿는 것이 아니라면 행위 역시 푯대가 아닙니다.

특히 바울사도는 <푯대를 향하여>라는 말씀에 이어서 다음과 같은 말씀을 하고 있습니다.

그러므로 누구든지 우리 온전히 이룬 자들은 이렇게 생각할지니 만일 무슨 일에 너희가 달리 생각하면 하나님이 이것도 너희에게 나타내시리라(빌 3:15)

바울사도가 아직 이룬 것이라 여기지 않고 푯대를 향하여 좇아가는 것에 관한 말씀은 <온전히 이룬 자>들에게 하는 말씀이라는 것입니다. 온전히 이룬 자들은 아직 잡은 것으로 여기지 않고 푯대를 향하여 가는 것 같이 살아가는 자신의 마음과 같이 살 것을 권면하고 있습니다.

이것은 오묘한 것입니다. 우리가 흔히 이 푯대를 구원으로 생각하기도 하는데 늘 말씀드리는 것과 같이 구원은 시작이지 종착지가 아닙니다. 구원이 시작인 사람은 그 시작한 것을 자기 육신의 삶이 다하는 날까지 그것을 이루는 것에 힘쓰라는 것입니다. ‘힘쓰라’는 말씀이라, ‘깨어있으라’는 말씀, 그리고 이 ‘푯대를 향하여’라는 말씀은 모두 그런 의미입니다. 자기 안에 없는 구원을 얻기까지 수고하라는 것이 아니라, 자기 안에 있는 구원과 하나님의 의와 뜻을 인생을 다하여 표현하라는 말씀이라는 것입니다.

푯대를 향하여 좇아간다는 이 말씀은 아직 구원이 없는 이들이 구원을 얻기 위하여 수고하라는 말씀이 아닙니다. 육신으로 성경을 지키기 위하여 열심히 노력해서 흠이 없는 사람, 어떤 순간, 어떤 장소에서도 생각조차 사람들이 선하게 여기는 모습을 유지하는 존재가 되기까지 힘쓰라는 것이 아닙니다.

이미 마음 안에 하나님의 의가 온전히 있어 그것이 자기 육신으로 표현되는 것을 맛본 사람들, 그래서 그 기쁨을 아는 빌립보의 성도들과 그와 같은 사람들에게 그 심령에 거하시는 하나님의 의와 뜻을 삶의 더 많은 부분에서 표현하는 장성한 생명이 되기를 위하여 힘쓰라는 것입니다. 이것은 육신으로 노력하므로 되는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 의 앞에 더 순종하는 마음이 있어야 하는 것입니다.

바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 이 푯대는 행위로 의로워지는 세계가 아닙니다. 바울사도가 그것을 전한 적이 없기 때문입니다. 오히려 육신으로는 구원을 받을 사람이 없다고 했습니다. 그런 바울의 말씀을 행위로 수고하여 어떤 수준에 이르는 것을 해석하는 것은 도용이거나 다른 어떤 목적이 있습니다. 예를 들면 헌금을 더 모으겠다는 것과 같은…

바울사도가 푯대를 말했다면, 바울사도가 어떤 사람인지를 알고 봐야 합니다. 그는 사람이 행위로 하나님 앞에 의로워질 수 있는 것이 아니라고 말한 사람이고 그것이 자신의 신앙입니다. 그러면 그가 말하는 푯대는 행위의 의로움에 관한 것이 아닙니다. 그리고 바울이 구원도 못 받아서 구원이라는 푯대를 향하여 가고 있다고 했겠습니까? 그 또한 아닙니다.

바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 이 푯대는 사람 안에 거하시는 하나님의 의와 뜻, 곧 성령이 자기 본성이 되어 살아가는 삶에 관한 것입니다. 육신을 가지고 하루를 더 살게 된다면 하나님께서 그 육신의 속심령에 거하는 하나님의 의를 나타내는 것을 위하여 하루를 더 주신 것이라는 것입니다. 그러므로 바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 이 푯대는 자기 안에 있는 그리스도의 영을 자기 육신의 수명이 다하는 날까지, 하나님께서 그 육신으로 기대하시는 그날까지 하나님의 의를 표현하는 것에 관한 것입니다. 

이것을 알려면 바울사도의 글을 읽는 사람도 그 심령 안에 바울과 같은 마음이 있어야 알 수 있습니다. 하나님의 영이 자기 속사람이 된 것이 구원이고 거듭남이며, 그 온전함을 이룬 사람이어야 알 수 있는 것입니다. 바울 사도도 그 온전함을 가진 사람에게 푯대를 향하여 가는 자기 마음을 가져야 한다고 권면하고 있습니다. 그렇게 하나님의 영을 인생의 목적으로 깨닫고 순종하므로 그 속사람에 거하는 하나님의 의와 뜻을 자기 육신의 수명이 다하는 날까지 표현하면서 사는 것, 그것이 구원을 이루는 것이고, 바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 푯대를 향하여 가는 삶인 것입니다.

But this <goal> that Paul says is not going to salvation or heaven. It is not much of an act of action. It means that Jesus does not mean to be a person who believes hard and does not make mistakes from the perspective of the world at all. But many people think so. Therefore, I believe that I have received salvation, but I have not done so yet, and I think that I am finished to die and go to heaven. So I always try to be self-controlled and abstinent.

However, this <goal> that Paul says is to speak of consuming the righteousness of God that comes to him in his own flesh. It is not about receiving salvation unless the Apostle Paul, who is exhorting the Saints of Philippi to "save salvation," is going to the sign of salvation because he has not yet been saved. Also, act is not a mark unless it is believed by the apostle Paul to be a righteous man.

In particular, the apostle Paul says, "Towards the goal."

Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded： and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.(Philippians 3:15)

Paul's apostle has not yet fulfilled it, but the words to follow it toward the goal are words to those who are "fully accomplished". Those who are fully accomplished are encouraged not to be caught yet, but to live with their own hearts as they go toward the goal.

This is subtle. We often think of this mark as salvation, as we always say salvation is the beginning, not the end. He who is the beginning of salvation is striving to accomplish it until the day of his physical life. It is the meaning of 'struggle', the word 'keep watch', and the word 'towards the goal'. This is not to say that we should work until we have salvation that is not in us, but to express our salvation and God's righteousness and will with our whole life.

These words to follow toward the goal are not to say that those who are not yet saved must labor for salvation. It is not to say that you are striving hard to keep the Bible in the flesh, not to be a flawless person, no matter what moment, even where you think, to be a person who keeps people looking good.

For those of you who already have the righteousness of God in your heart and have tasted that it is expressed in your own flesh, and therefore to the saints of Philippi who know that joy, and to such people, It is to struggle to be the expressive life. This is not to be done in the flesh, but to be more obedient to God's righteousness.

This is not the world that the apostle speaks of. It is because the Apostle Paul never preached it. Rather, they said that there was no one to receive salvation in the flesh. It is a theft or any other purpose to interpret Paul's words to the level of labor by works. For example, to collect more donations ...

If the Apostle Paul spoke the goal, he should know what the apostle Paul is. He is the one who said that man can not be made righteous before God by action, and that is his faith. Then the mark he speaks is not about the righteousness of action. And did Paul say that he could not be saved and was headed toward the goal of salvation? Not that either.

This sign of Paul's apostle is about the righteousness and will of God in man, the life in which the Holy Spirit lives in his own nature. If we live one more day with the flesh, God has given us another day to show God's righteousness in the spirit of the flesh. Therefore, this sign that the apostle Paul speaks is about expressing the righteousness of Christ in him till the end of his flesh, until the day God expects in his flesh.

To know this, anyone who reads the writings of Paul will know in his heart that he has the same mind as Paul. It is the salvation and the rebirth that the Spirit of God has become in itself, and it can only be known if it is perfected. The Apostle Paul also exhorted those with integrity to have their own hearts toward the mark. In order to fulfill the spirit of God for the purpose of life and to obey it, we must live to express the righteousness and will of God dwelling in the inner man until the end of his fleshly life, that which is salvation, It is the life going towards.
