(로마서 8:31-39) 하나님의 사랑 안에서 끊을 수 없느니라

많은 신앙인들은 예수님을 믿는다면 하나님의 사랑에서 끊어지지 않는다고 믿습니다. 예수님께서는 절대로 예수 믿는 사람들을 버리지 않을 것이라고 생각합니다. 하지만 이것에는 분명히 해야 할 것이 있습니다. 성경이 말씀하시는 ‘절대로’, ‘반드시’와 같은 말씀들은 의지에 관한 것이 아니라는 것입니다. 그러니까 그것은 하나님이나 예수님의 의지에 관한 말씀이 아니라는 것입니다.

생명이란 일단 어떤 정체성을 가지고 나면 변함이 없습니다. 개로 나서 고양이가 된다거나 하는 일이 없다는 것입니다. 간혹 살면서 그 성(sex)을 바꾸는 생명체들이 있다고는 하지만 그렇다고 다른 생명이 되는 것은 아닙니다. 그렇다는 것은 생명은 그 본성이 절대로 변하지 않는다는 것입니다. 고양이를 배에 태워 바다 한 가운데 간다고 고등어가 되지 않으며, 개를 가르쳐 ‘야용’ 이라며 울게 할 수 없다는 것입니다. 이것이 바로 생명의 본성입니다.
