우리의 육신이 연약하다는 것은 하나님을 믿는 신앙에 있어 가장 핵심적인 요소입니다. 그러니까 이 명제, <인생이 연약하다는 것을 어떻게 이해하느냐?> 하는 것이 핵심적인 것이라는 것입니다. 하나님께서 만드신 상태가 연약한 상태 그 자체입니다. 그러므로 이것은 하나님께서 만드신 사람의 상태를 어떻게 받을 것이냐의 문제라는 것입니다.

많은 사람들이 하나님을 믿는 것을 어려워하고, 신앙생활을 하면서 언제나 “좀 더 열심히!”라는 식으로 노력하고 애쓰면서 힘들어 하는 것, 그리고 늘 의문에 싸여 있는 것은 진정한 어두움입니다. 예수님은 빛이신데, 빛이 비취면 모든 것이 분명해지고, 무작정 노력만 하는 것이 아니라 모든 일의 선후가 분명해져서 바로하고 쉽게 할 수 있게 되어야 하는데 그렇지 못한 것은 어두운 상태이기 때문입니다.

생각해보면 신앙인들은 늘 예수 믿는 것을 열심히 하려 노력하고 애쓰며, ‘어디까지 가야 그래도 좀 된 자리가 될까?’ 궁금하고, 살면서 행여 하나님 앞에 범죄 할까? 전전긍긍하면서 자신의 행동을 간수하는 것에 온 신경을 쏟고 사는 것의 열매가 무엇이냐고 바울 사도는 반문하고 있는 것입니다.

그리고 그 대답은 바로 창세기 1장2절의 말씀과 같이 혼돈스럽고 어둡기만 한 것입니다. 그래서 늘 신앙에 의문이 있고, 그래서 교회에 가서 목사에게 늘 묻는 것이 ‘이렇게 해도(do) 되는지? 무엇을 해야(do) 하나님께서 기뻐하시는지?’를 묻습니다. 모른다는 것입니다. 의문스럽다는 것입니다. 그것은 아직 하나님의 세계가 창조되기 전, 하나님의 안목이 열리기 전이라는 고백일 뿐 전혀 경건한 것이 아닙니다.

그렇게 사람들이 자기 행동에 대하여 관심과 의문을 가지고서 늘 하나님 앞에서 무엇을 해야 할지 모르는 어두움 속에 사는 것은 육신 가진 자신의 삶은 연약하고 불온전하기에 어떻게 하면 그것을 보완하고 상쇄할 수 있는지를 고민하는 것에서 비롯된 것입니다. 즉 육신의 연약함 자체를 죄로 본다는 것입니다. 그리고 그 죄를 사함 받을 수 있는 행동으로 그 죄를 감추려 하는 것입니다. 아담이 무화과로 부끄러움을 가리려 한 것과 같이. 이것이 바로 죄에게 순종하고, 죄에게 자신을 드린 것입니다.

하나님이 보시는 것과 같이 인생을 보는 안목

사람은 하나님께서 만드셨습니다. 그리고 하나님은 온전하십니다. 그러므로 하나님께서 만드신 것은 온전합니다. 따라서 사람도 온전합니다. 하나님께서 지은 상태를 회복하면 죄가 없는 것입니다. 그런데 사람들은 하나님이 지은 인생의 모습을 자꾸 정죄합니다. 죄가 있다는 것입니다. 어떤 행위를 쌓아서 자신의 죄를 덮으려 하는 이유가 그것입니다. 그대로는 죄가 있기에 뭔가를 해야 한다는 것입니다.

그런데 아이러니 하게도 바로 그것이 죄인 것입니다. 자신은 하나님께 경건해지려는 마음으로 육신의 연약함을 바로 잡으려 하고 노력하고 하나님께서 자신을 도와주기를 바랍니다. 더 의지력을 가지고 기도를 빠지지 않기를 구하고, 마음에서 일어나는 본성을 이겨서 선한 사람이 되려고 노력합니다. 그런데 어쩔까요? 사람을 그렇게 만드신 이가 하나님이신데… 

그러므로 사람이 가진 이 육신의 연약함에 대한 시각을 바꾸어야 합니다. 그것이 하나님을 인정하고 믿는 것입니다. 하나님께서 사람을 온전히 만드셨다고 믿는 것입니다. 하나님께서 자신의 삶을 온전하고 보시기에 심히 좋은 것으로 여김과 같이 자신도 그렇게 인생을 보는 것이 바로 하나님의 안목을 가진 것입니다. 생명이 같아야 안목이 같은 것이니 육신을 하나님과 같이 보는 것이 바로 하나님의 생명을 가진 것입니다. 하나님의 의를 가진 것이라는 것입니다. 그러니 그것이 진정 하나님 앞에서 의로워지는 것입니다.

그리고 그렇게 하나님의 안목을 가진다는 것은 자신의 삶을 하나님께서 쓰신다는 것입니다. 나의 육신을 하나님께서 하나님의 안목으로 보시는 것에 내어주는 것이기 때문입니다. 하나님의 의로움과 생명이 내 안에 거하실 수 있도록 내어주는 것이기 때문입니다. 그것이 바로 하나님께 순종하는 것입니다. 그것이 바로 하나님께 자신을 드리는 것입니다.

하나님께 드린다는 것의 진정한 의미

그러므로 하나님께 자신을 드리는 것은 다른 것이 아닙니다. 하나님께서 사람을 만드신 목적 그대로 사람을 보는 것입니다. 그것을 그대로 본다는 것은 자기 인생의 목적과 의미가 하나님께 있다는 것을 인정하고 순종하는 것입니다. 그것이 하나님을 믿는 것입니다. 하나님께서 도깨비 방망이와 같이 내 육신의 것을 들어주시는 분이라는 것을 믿는 것이 하나님을 믿는 것이 아니라는 것입니다.
