(로마서 10:1-15) 너무나 쉬운 하나님의 의

기독교 신앙 안에는 적지 않은 모순이 있습니다. 예를 들면 이 블로그에서 한 번 이야기한 것과 같이 삼겹살과 안식일과 십일조에 대하여 각각 다른 기준을 적용하고 있지만, 정작 왜 그것들을 다른 기준을 적용하는지는 아무도 모른다는 것과 같은 것입니다. 어떤 성경 말씀은 문자 그대로 지키고, 어떤 것은 시대에 맞추어 지키고, 어떤 것은 의미만 따르고 있는데 무엇을 기준으로 그렇게 나누는지 신학자나 목사들은 말을 하지 못합니다. 사실 그것은 기득권의 이익과 관련되었다는 간단한 이유지만 그것을 어떻게 성경적으로 그럴싸하게 포장할 방법을 찾지 못했다고 볼 수 있습니다.

하지만 정작 기독교 신앙이 가장 큰 모순은 그리스도의 정체성에 관한 것입니다. 모두가 그리스도를 닮아가고 제자가 되어야 하며 또 하나님의 아들이 되어야 한다면서 교회에 다니지만 정작 누군가가 ‘내가 그리스도의 성품을 가진 사람’이라고 말하면 아연질색을 합니다. 그 이유는 ‘사람이 어떻게 그리스도가 될 수 있느냐?’는 언뜻 고상해 보이는 논리 때문인데, 그러면 도무지 왜 예수를 믿는 것일까요? 그리스도가 될 것이 아니라면. 사람이 그리스도가 될 수 없다는데 사람들이 그리스도를 믿는 이유가 도무지 뭘까요? 이것이 바로 <어이없는 한계>입니다.

바울 사도는 유대인들을 보고 열심은 있는데 지식이 없다고 했습니다. 무엇을 왜 열심히 하는지 모른다는 것입니다. 정작 알아야 할 것은 모른다는 것입니다. 율법을 열심히 지키고 있지만 정작 율법을 주신 뜻은 모르고 율법의 마침이 되는 예수님은 십자가에 못 박아 버렸습니다. 이것은 오늘날 많은 신앙인들이 예수님을 믿지만 자신이 예수님과 같아지는 것은 불가능하다고 믿는 것과 같습니다. 예수님과 같은 생명이 되지 않을 값이면 왜 교회에 다니고 예수를 믿는지 알 수 없습니다.

하지만 알고 보면 그것도 그 나름의 이유는 있습니다. 정말로 답답한 일이기도 하고 또 이것을 어떻게 깔끔하게 표현하지 못하는 애닮도 있는 것인데, 그것은 바로 산다는 것 그 자체를 본질로 보기 때문입니다. 사람의 존재 목적을 ‘사는 것’ 그 자체에 두기 때문입니다. 존재하고 사는 것은 목적이 있는데 그 목적을 보는 것이 아니라 삶과 살아가는 인생의 일과 육신의 목숨을 본질로 보는 것입니다. 이것이 바로 육신의 정욕과 안목의 정욕과 이생의 자랑인데 그것을 본질로 보기 때문입니다.

그것을 본질로 보기 때문에 그들이 본질로 여기는 일이 자기들의 원하는 대로 될 수 있도록 하나님께서 도우시기를 바라기 때문입니다. 그리고 그 바람이 이루어지려면 하나님이 원하시는 행동을 해야 한다고 여깁니다. 행위가 하나님 앞에서 의로움을 인정받을 수 있다고 여긴다는 것입니다. 물론 하나님은 사람의 삶을 풍요롭게 하는 것을 돕기 위하여 존재하시는 신이 아닙니다. 그런데도 그렇게들 삽니다. 그것은 사람의 능력 너머의 도움입니다. 인생에서 만나는 어려움을 돕는 것은 사람 이상의 일이라고 생각합니다. 생사화복이 다 하나님께 속했고 예수님께 있다고 믿기 때문입니다. 그러니 사람이 그리스도와 같아진다는 것을 용납할 없는 것입니다. 

사람으로서 해결할 수 없기에 사람 이상의 존재인 예수님께 인생의 Do와 Have의 문제를 의탁하는 중인데 사람이 그 예수님과 같아진다고 여길 수 없는 것입니다. 그것은 사람이 사람 이상의 존재가 된다는 것이기 때문에 불가능하다는 것입니다. 자신은 사람이라서 불가능한 것 많아서 사람 이상의 존재에게 의지하는데, 자신과 같은 사람이 자신이 의탁하는 것과 같은 사람 이상의 존재와 같아진다고 하는 것을 용납할 수가 없는 것입니다.

바울 사도가

믿음으로 말미암는 의는 이같이 말하되 네 마음에 누가 하늘에 올라가겠느냐 하지 말라 하니 올라가겠느냐 함은 그리스도를 모셔 내리려는 것이요 혹 누가 음부에 내려가겠느냐 하지 말라 하니 내려가겠느냐 함은 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 모셔 올리려는 것이라(롬 10:6-7)

라고 말씀하고 있는데, 많은 사람들이 이 말씀을 어렵게 여깁니다만 이 말씀은 신명기 30장 11-14절 말씀을 인용한 것입니다. 그 말씀을 바울 사도의 버전으로 옮긴 것이라 할 수 있습니다.

내가 오늘날 네게 명한 이 명령은 네게 어려운 것도 아니요 먼 것도 아니라 하늘에 있는 것이 아니니 네가 이르기를 누가 우리를 위하여 하늘에 올라가서 그 명령을 우리에게로 가지고 와서 우리에게 들려 행하게 할꼬 할 것이 아니요 이것이 바다 밖에 있는 것이 아니니 네가 이르기를 누가 우리를 위하여 바다를 건너가서 그 명령을 우리에게로 가지고 와서 우리에게 들려 행하게 할꼬 할 것도 아니라 오직 그 말씀이 네게 심히 가까워서 네 입에 있으며 네 마음에 있은즉 네가 이를 행할 수 있느니라(신 30:11-14)

특히 신명기 30:14절의 말씀과 로마서 10:8절은 그 의미가 거의 동일합니다.

그러면 무엇을 말하느뇨 말씀이 네게 가까워 네 입에 있으며 네 마음에 있다 하였으니 곧 우리가 전파하는 믿음의 말씀이라(롬 10:8)

오직 그 말씀이 네게 심히 가까워서 네 입에 있으며 네 마음에 있은즉 네가 이를 행할 수 있느니라(신 30:14)

이것이 어떤 의미인가 하면 하나님의 율법과 말씀과 복음은 사람에게 어려운 것이 아니라는 것입니다. 그것은 당연한 것입니다. 사람을 만드시고 그 사람을 위하여 사람의 존재 목적과 존재 이유와 의미를 말씀하신 것이 율법이요 복음이요 성경인데 그것이 사람에게 어려울 리가 없는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 사람이 그리스도와 같아지지 못할 이유가 없다는 것입니다.

그러므로 신앙생활이 어렵다고 여긴다면, 또 사람이 그리스도와 같아질 수 없다고 생각하고 있다면 그것은 하나님의 의를 알지 못하는 것입니다. 하나님의 의가 어려운 것은 왼나사를 오른쪽으로 돌리는 것과 같은 것입니다. 하나님의 의가 마음에 있으면 율법의 행위는 자연적으로 나오는 것인데 반대로 행동으로 하나님의 말씀을 지켜내려 하니 힘들 수밖에 없는 것입니다.

성경은 이렇게 말씀하십니다.

예수께서 가라사대 네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라 하셨으니(마 22:37)

너는 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하라(신 6:5)

이것은 바울 사도가 말씀하시는 바

사람이 마음으로 믿어 의에 이르고 입으로 시인하여 구원에 이르느니라(롬 10:10)

이 모든 말씀이 뜻하는 것은 단순합니다. 사람의 마음 곧 그 내용이요 속사람인 심령이 하나님의 의를 따르면 율법의 마침이 되신 예수님과 같이 하나님의 의를 온전히 이루는 사람이 된다는 것입니다. 그리고 무엇보다 사람이 그런 존재라는 것을 알리려고 예수님이 우리와 같은 육신으로 이 땅에 오셨는데 예수님께서 그렇게 일부러 우리 육신으로 오셔서까지 말씀하셨음에도 이 육신으로는 하나님의 의를 이룰 수 없다면서 육신의 행위를 갈고 닦아 하나님의 의에 이르려는 열심을 가진 신앙은 참으로 안타까운 것입니다.

우리가 예수를 믿는 이유는 단 한가지입니다. 그것은 예수님과 같아지기 위해서입니다. 이는 예수님과 같은 개체가 되겠다는 것이 아닙니다. 예수님이 가졌던 정체성, 예수님께서 보이셨던 생명의 본성, 그것이 바로 나의 정체성이 되는 것입니다. 그것은 하늘에서나 땅 밑에 가서 가져와야 하는 것과 같이 절대로 어려운 것이 아닙니다. 이것은 사람을 위한 사람 전용 하나님의 뜻입니다. 그런데 그것이 사람에게 어렵겠습니까? 그리고 사람이 그것을 이루지 못하겠습니까? 그렇게 생각했다면 생각을 바꿀 필요가 있습니다. 왜냐하면 성경이 말씀하시는 것이 바로 그 생각을 바꾸라는 것이기 때문입니다.

But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ (Romans 10: 6-7)

The Bible says:

Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37)

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength (Deuteronomy 6: 5)

This is what the apostle Paul says

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:10)

All these words are simple. The heart of man, the content, and the inner heart, according to the righteousness of God, is to become a man of God's righteousness as Jesus, who is the end of the law. And, most of all, Jesus came to this earth in the same flesh as ours in order to announce that he is such a person. Even though Jesus came so intentionally to our flesh, he could not fulfill the righteousness of God in this body. Faith with zeal to grind and wipe to the righteousness of God is truly unfortunate.

There is only one reason we believe in Jesus. It is to be like Jesus. This is not to be an object like Jesus. The identity of Jesus, the nature of life that Jesus showed, that is my identity. It is not as difficult as it is to go and bring it under heaven or under the earth. This is the will of God dedicated to man. But is it difficult for a person? And can not man do it? If you thought so, you need to change your mind. Because what the Bible says is to change the idea.
