(야고보서 1:5-8) 성경이 말씀하시는 지혜의 본질

성경에는 지혜에 관한 말씀이 많습니다. 잠언과 전도서는 솔로몬 왕이 쓴 글이라고 하는데 솔로몬이라고 하면 ‘지혜의 왕’이라고도 합니다. 그렇다면 지혜는 과연 무엇일까요? 성경이 말씀하시는 지혜는 ‘듣는 것’입니다. 성경이 아니라도 진정한 지혜는 자신에게 없는 것을 가진 이에게 듣고 순종하는 것이 진정한 지혜입니다.

어떤 세계든 가장 큰 지혜는 가장 크고 근원적인 문제나 어려움에 대한 답입니다. 그렇다면 사람에게 있어 가장 근원적이고 핵심적인 의문과 문제는 바로 자기 존재 정체성에 관한 것입니다. 사람에게 부족한 것은 어쩌면 이 하나일지 모릅니다. 왜냐하면 사람이 사회 안에서 자기 존재 정체성이 무엇인지 알면 어지간하면 그 정체성에 맞게 행동하고 살아가는 법을 아는 것만 봐도, 존재 정체성만 분명해진다면 모든 것을 아는 것이 되는 것입니다.

야고보 사도는 지혜가 부족하면 하나님께 구하라고 하셨습니다. 그러면 하나님께서는 후히 주실 뿐 아니라 꾸짖지도 않는다고 하셨습니다. 이 야고보서의 기록 목적에 비추어 본다면 사람들이 믿음과 행함이라는 명제에 있어 어느 하나만 선택하거나 중요하게 여기는 것은 하나님께서 우리에게 육신을 가진 인생을 주신 의미를 알지 못하기 때문입니다. 

하나님께서 우리 육신의 내용이 되시고 육신을 가진 우리는 그것을 표현하는 존재라는 것을 알면 믿음과 행함은 하나라는 것을 알 것이기 때문입니다. 그리고 무엇보다 우리 육신의 존재 목적을 안다는 것은 하나님께서 우리를 창조하신 목적을 안다는 것이고, 그것은 우리 인생의 존재 정체성을 아는 것이기 때문에 사람에게 있어 이것을 아는 것 이상의 지혜는 없다고 할 수 있는 것입니다.

그러므로 사람이 자신이 살아가는 삶의 목적과 육신을 가진 인생으로서의 존재 정체성을 안다는 것이 가장 근본 지혜인 것입니다. 그리고 그것은 하나님이 가지신 것입니다. 하나님께서 사람을 만드셨으니 사람의 존재 정체성은 당연히 하나님께서 가지신 것입니다. 또한 하나님께서는 사람에게 그것을 강제로 주입시키시는 분이 아니라 사람이 그것을 스스로 받아들이기를 원하시는 분이시니 당연히 후히 주시려고 할 것이며, 사람이 그것을 알려고 구할 때에 꾸짖으실 이유가 없는 것입니다. 그리고 이것을 아는 것이 바로 하나님을 아는 것이기도 합니다.

여호와를 경외하는 것이 지혜의 근본이요 거룩하신 자를 아는 것이 명철이니라(잠언 9:10)

그래서 야고보 사도는 지혜가 부족하면 하나님께 구하라고 하는 것입니다. 사람에게 육신을 주신 이유와 목적이 하나님께 있으니 하나님께 그것을 구하면 주신다는 것입니다. 그리고 하나님께서는 늘 그것을 주시기 원하시는 분이십니다.

야고보 사도는 이 지혜를 구함에 있어 믿음으로 구하라고 했습니다. 물론 이 믿음은 하나님께서 주실 것이라고 믿는 믿음입니다. 여기서 우리는 믿음이라는 것의 정체성이 수동적인 것이라는 것을 다시 한번 확인할 수 있습니다. 지혜라는 것이 내가 알지 못하는 것을 수용하는 것이듯, 믿음 역시 하나님의 의를 자신이 수용하는 것이라는 것임을 알 수 있다는 것입니다.

많은 사람들이 하나님께 지혜를 구합니다. 하지만 그 구하는 지혜의 내면은 언제나 금도끼와 은도끼에 목적이 있습니다. 즉 하나님이 주시는 지혜가 필요한 것은 어디까지나 육신의 일에 관한 것입니다. 시험치는 것, 봉착한 인생의 문제를 해결하는 것과 같은 것입니다. 알고 보면 그런 문제들은 모두 하나님께서 자신을 지으신 존재의 정체성을 알지 못해서 발생한 것이고 필요한 것입니다. 그러니까 근본적인 존재 목적만 안다면 모든 것이 해결된다는 것입니다.

천지창조 과정에서 가장 먼지 ‘빛이 있으라’고 했습니다. 이것에 대하여 이 블로그에서는 내내 <빛은 인식>이라고 말씀드렸습니다. 자신의 방이라도 캄캄할 때, 곧 빛이 없으면 자기가 늘 사용하던 물건들  조차 자신에게 방해가 되고 걸림이 되며 부딪히고 문제가 됩니다. 하지만 빛, 곧 하나님의 세계가 열리면 그 모든 것을 인식하고 자신이 원하는 대로 다스릴 수 있는 것입니다. 즉 하나님을 알지 못하면 어ᄄᅠᆫ 지혜도 다 근원적이지 않고 소용이 없다는 것입니다.

그러므로 성경이 말씀하시는 모든 지혜는 하나님을 아는 것입니다. 하나님을 안다는 것은 하나님께서 자신을 만드신 목적을 안다는 것입니다. 그것은 또한 자신의 존재 이유와 삶의 의미와 목적을 안다는 것입니다. 이것 이상의 지혜는 세상에 없습니다. 그리고 이것을 안다면 하나님께서 이 육신을 주신 이유도 알게 됩니다. 그렇다면 율법주의든 영지주의든 이 육신을 오해하므로 하나님을 알지 못하는 죄에 빠지지 않게 되는 것입니다.

야고보 사도가 믿음이 없으면 ‘두 마음을 가진 자’라고 했는데, 이것은 분명한 것을 아는 사람은 요동치 않지만 분명한 것이 없는 사람은 정말로 바람에 밀려 요동하는 바닷물과 같은 것입니다. 이는 우리가 일상에서도 늘 알 수 있는 것입니다. 길을 확실히 아는 사람은 내비게이션이 뭐라고 해도 자기의 길을 갑니다. 하지만 길을 알지 못하는 여정이라면 때로 내비게이션조차 신뢰가 되지 않습니다. 지혜라는 것이 내가 알지 못하는 것을 수용하는 것임을 또 한 번 알 수 있는 대목입니다.

그러므로 내가 알지 못하는 가장 큰 문제, 나의 존재 이유와 삶의 목적이라는 존재의 정체성에 대하여 주권을 가지신 하나님의 말씀을 수용하는 것이 지혜의 근본이 되는 것입니다. 그리고 하나님을 아는 것이 곧 내 삶의 목적을 아는 것입니다. 그리고 그것은 우리가 볼 때 한 없이 연약하고 부정한 이 육신을 주신 이유 또한 분명하게 되는 것입니다. 그리고 이 모든 것을 수용하는 것이 바로 믿음인 것입니다.

There are many words in the Bible about wisdom. Proverbs and Ecclesiastes are said to have been written by King Solomon, which is also known as King of Wisdom. So what is wisdom? The wisdom that the Bible says is 'to hear'. True wisdom, not the Bible, is the true wisdom of hearing and obeying those who have what they do not have.

The greatest wisdom in any world is the answer to the greatest and most fundamental problems or difficulties. So, the most fundamental and key question and problem for man is about self-identity. Maybe this one is lacking in people. Because if a person knows what his / her identity is in society, if he / she knows how to live and behave according to his / her identity, if he / she only knows identity, he / she knows everything.

The apostle James told him to ask God for lack of wisdom. Then God said that He would give it to Him and not rebuke Him. If we look at the purpose of this James book, people choose one or the other in the proposition of faith and action because God does not know what it means to give us a life of flesh.

If we know that God is the content of our flesh and that we are bodies expressing it, we will know that faith and action are one. And above all, knowing the purpose of our physical existence is knowing the purpose God created us, and knowing the existence identity of our life, so there is no more wisdom than knowing this in man.

Therefore, it is the fundamental wisdom that a person knows the purpose of life in which he lives and the existence identity of life as a body. And it is God's. Because God made man, the existence identity of man is of course God. Also, God is not the one who forcibly injects it to man, but the one who wants to accept it by itself, and will surely give it to Him, and there is no reason to reproach it when a person asks for it. And knowing this is knowing God.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

So the apostle James tells us to ask God if he lacks wisdom. The reason and purpose of giving the flesh to man is that God gives it to God. And God always wants to give it.

The Apostle James told him to seek this wisdom by faith. This faith, of course, is a belief that God will give. Here again we can see that the identity of faith is passive. Just as wisdom embraces what I do not know, faith can also see that it is the acceptance of God's righteousness.

Many people seek wisdom from God. But the inner part of wisdom that I seek is always aimed at gold axes and silver axes. In other words, the wisdom that God needs is all about the work of the flesh. It is the same thing as solving the problem of the life that we encountered and the test. Knowing that all such problems are caused and necessary because God does not know the identity of the person who created Himself. So if you know the fundamental purpose of existence, everything is solved.

In the creation process of heaven and earth, I said, "Let there be light". In this blog, I have been saying "Light is recognition" throughout this blog. When you are in your room, when there is no light, even the things that you always use will interfere with yourself, become a jam and become a problem. But when the light, the world of God, is opened, it will be able to perceive all that and be able to govern it as it wants. In other words, if we do not know God, our wisdom is not fundamental or useless.

Therefore, all the wisdom the Bible says is to know God. Knowing God means knowing God's purpose for His creation. It also knows the reason for existence and the meaning and purpose of life. There is no more wisdom than this. And if you know this, you know why God gave this body. If you do, you will not fall into the sin of knowing God because you misunderstand the body of the law and the genders.

James, an apostle, said, "If you have no faith, you are a man of two minds." Those who know what is clear do not shake, but those who are not clear are like seawater pushed by the wind. This is something that we can always see in everyday life. Anyone who knows the road definitely goes his way no matter what the navigation is. But even if you do not know the way, sometimes navigation is not reliable. Wisdom is another way to know that it is accepting what I do not know.

Therefore, accepting the Word of God with sovereignty over the identity of being, the cause of my existence and purpose of life, is the basis of wisdom. And knowing God is knowing the purpose of my life. And it is also clear that the reason we have given this flesh, weak and unclean, as we see it. And accepting all this is faith.
