(로마서 8:26-30) 성령의 탄식

이와 같이 성령도 우리 연약함을 도우시나니 우리가 마땅히 빌 바를 알지 못하나 오직 성령이 말할 수 없는 탄식으로 우리를 위하여 친히 간구하시느니라(롬 8:26)

우리가 익히 잘 아는 말씀입니다. 성령께서는 우리가 무엇을 빌어야(기도해야)할지 모를 때에 성령이 말할 수 없는 탄식으로 우리를 위하여 기도하신다는 것입니다. 이것을 보통은, ‘우리가 삶의 모양을 어떻게 이루어 가야할지 모를 때에 성령께서 우리 인생을 이끄신다.’정도로 생각합니다. 한 마디로 살길 막막할 때 우리가 하나님께 그것을 구할 수 있도록 인도하신다는 것입니다.

하지만 성령은 그런 것이나 하시는 분이 아닙니다. 성령은 하나님의 또 다른 모습입니다. 그렇다는 것은 하나님과 그 의와 뜻이 동일하다는 것입니다. 하나님께서 존재의 하나님이시면, 성령의 관심과 탄식도 당연히 사람의 존재에 관한 것이지, 육신의 삶에 속한 문제에 대하여 걱정하시는 분이 아니라는 것입니다. 

성경이 예수 그리스도의 정체성에 관한 말씀이라는 것은 누구나 다 압니다. 그렇다면 성령도 예수 그리스도라는 정체성에 관여하시는 분이라는 것이 당연한 것이 되어야 하는데, 사람들은 자주 사람으로서 할 수 없는 기적, 그것도 삶의 문제가 해결된 것을 두고 성령의 역사나 기적이라고 하는 것은 성경의 본질을 망각한 것이라고도 할 수 있습니다.

앞에서 바울 사도는 성령의 인도하심을 받는 이들이 하나님을 아버지라고 부른다(하나님의 아들이 된다)고 말씀하셨습니다.(롬 8:12-17) 그것은 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 보여주신 하나님 아들의 정체성이 나의 정체성이 되도록 인도하시는 분이 성령님이라는 것입니다. 그러므로 성령께서 우리가 빌 바를 알지 못하나 성령께서 말할 수 없는 탄식으로 친히 간구하시는 내용은 다름이 아니라, 우리가 하나님의 아들이 되는 것에 관한 것이라는 것입니다.

그러므로 성령의 탄식을 인생 살다가 만난 삶의 문제들 앞에서 어찌할 바를 모르는 상황에서도 하나님은 답을 아신다는 것으로 여길 것이 아닙니다. 인생이 살다가 문제를 만나는 것은 인생의 정체성을 알지 못하기 때문입니다. 사람을 처음 만날 때도 그 사람이 누구인지를 알면 어떻게 대할 것인지 자연스럽게 정해집니다. 물건도 무엇을 하는 것인지 알면 사용법을 쉽게 알 수 있습니다. 길도 이 길의 처음과 시작, 곧 길의 정체성을 알면 찾기 쉽습니다. 인생도 그렇습니다.
