(요나 1:4-16) 여호와의 낯을 피하여

그렇게 바다를 건너기 위하여 요나가 탄 배는 풍랑을 만났습니다. 그런데 요나는 태평했습니다. 배 가장 아랫단에 가서 자고 있었습니다. 그 사이에 풍랑을 만난 배의 선원과 다른 탑승자들은 어찌할 바를 몰라서 자기들의 물건들을 바다에 던지고 당황하다가 이것이 누구의 죄로 인함인지 제비를 뽑게 되고, 결국 요나가 당첨(?) 되었습니다.

성경에는 제비뽑기가 자주 나옵니다. 요즘 우리말로 복불복처럼 보입니다만 운이 있느냐 아니냐가 아닙니다. 사람이 그 운명을 자기가 알 수 없는 것에 맡긴다는 것이 바로 제비뽑는 것입니다. 즉 하나님의 선택을 기다린다는 것입니다. 그러므로 이것은 이 풍랑이 하나님께서 일으키신 것, 아니면 적어도 사람으로 인한 것이 아니라는 것을 알고 있다는 것입니다.

사람들은 바다와 같은 세상을 삽니다. 그런 중에 자기로서는 감당할 수 없는 풍랑과 같은 어려운 일들을 만납니다. 그것을 사람들은 세상풍파라고도 합니다. 그 세상 풍파를 만나면 사람들은 자연스럽게 그것이 자기로서는 할 수 없는 상황이고, 자기 이상의 존재, 곧 신에게 그 난관을 이길 수 있게 해 달라고 기도하기도 합니다. 요지는 우리가 바다와 같은 세상을 지날 때에 풍파를 만나기도 한다는 것입니다.

이 풍파는 다름이 아니라 요나로 인하여 만난 풍파입니다. 지금 이 요나는 하나님의 말씀을 거역하고 자기가 원하는 곳으로 가고 있는 사람입니다. 다시 말해서 이 풍파는 다른 이유로 인함이 아니라 하나님의 명을 거역한 일로 생긴 것이라는 것입니다. 그렇다면 사람들이 살면서 세상의 풍파를 만나는 것은 다름이 아니라 하나님의 뜻과 다른 삶을 살기 때문입니다.

물론 바다는 바다를 건너려고 배를 탄 사람의 어떤 행동으로 인하여 풍랑이 이는 것이 아니라 원래 파도와 풍랑이 일게 되어 있습니다. 그런데 그것이 풍랑으로 여겨지는 사람들은 하나님의 의를 알지 못하기 때문에 세상의 일이 자기에게 풍파가 되는 것입니다. 세상은 여상한데 자기가 하나님의 의에 순종하지 않으며 살면 세상의 일이 풍파가 되는 것입니다. 

같은 풍랑이지만 예수님께서는 그 풍랑 위를 걸으신 것은 예수님은 세상에서 일어나는 일들이 풍랑으로 여겨지지 않으신다는 것을 보이신 것입니다. 즉 마음 안에 하나님의 의가 있어서 그 의가 자기 삶으로 나타나는 사람에게 세상의 풍랑은 자기에게 닥친 난관이나 풍파가 아니라 충분히 이길 수 있는 것으로 여겨진다는 것입니다. 

왜냐하면 세상의 모든 것이 존재하는 이유도 알고, 세상의 모든 일은 하나님의 의와 그 형상을 타나내기 위하여 경영되고 있다는 것을 아는 사람에게 세상의 일이 자신에게 풍파가 될 리는 없기 때문입니다. 아버지가 하는 일이 아들에게 풍파가 될 리가 없기 때문입니다. 떡을 달라는데 돌을 주는 아비가 없는 것이니 말입니다.

그렇게 요나가 탄 배의 사람들이 제비를 뽑고 보니 요나가 뽑혔습니다. 그러자 요나는 자기가 하나님의 명령을 거역하고 하나님의 낯을 피하여 도망을 가는 중이라고 고백을 합니다. ‘하나님의 낯을 피한다…’ 이것은 어디서 본 적이 있는 말씀입니다. 아담이 선악과를 먹고서 피할 때에도 하나님의 낯을 피한다고 했습니다.

그러면 하나님께 얼굴이 있습니까? 하나님은 얼굴이 있는 분이 아닙니다. 그럼에도 하나님의 얼굴을 피한다고 하는 것은 ‘하나님의 정체성’을 피한다는 것입니다. 얼굴은 그 사람의 정체성을 나타내는 것이기 때문입니다. 요나가 피한 하나님의 정체성은 하나님은 하나님의 영광을 나타내기 위한 존재로 만든 모든 사람에 대한 사랑을 가지고 있다는 것입니다. 반면에 요나는 사람이 가진 현재의 외모, 즉 타국인이고 적국이며 죄를 크게 범한 니느웨의 그 외모를 기준으로 회개해서 구원을 받아서는 되지 않는다고 생각을 한 것입니다.

문제는 그렇게 하나님의 의를 피하면 풍랑이 인다는 것입니다. 사람이 하나님의 정체성을 회피하거나 왜곡하거나 자기가 생각하는 대로 하나님을 규정한 다음에 그 규정된 하나님을 믿는다면 풍랑을 만나게 되고, 또 그 풍랑 속에 던져지게 된다는 것입니다. 

이는 많은 사람들이 예수 믿는 것이 어렵고 힘들다고 생각하는 것이 그것입니다. 예수 믿는 것은 순풍에 돛단 것처럼 가야 하는데, 일어나기 싫지만 억지로 일어나고, 하지 않으면 일어난다고 하는 벌이 두려워 억지로 새벽기도회를 또 교회 일을 하니 그것은 풍랑과 같이 늘 어려운데, 하나님 알기를 자신의 그런 수고를 보고 은혜를 또 복을 주신다고 믿고 있기 때문에 그 풍랑 속에 던져지는 것입니다. 

하나님의 낯 곧 정체성은 존재의 하나님이시기에 사람이 어떤 행동을 하므로 보응하시는 하나님이 아닌데 사람들이 그렇게 믿는 그것이 바로 하나님의 낯을 피한 것이기 때문입니다. 존재의 하나님, 사람에게 ‘너는 나를 누구라고 하느냐?’고 물으시고, ‘너는 어디(존재의 정체성)에 있느냐?’를 물으시는 하나님을 사람의 행위를 보시는 분으로, 무엇을 해야 은혜 주시는 분으로 여기는 것, 그것이 바로 하나님의 낯을 피하여 하나님의 뜻과 반대로 가는 것입니다.

(Jonah 1: 4-16) By avoiding the presence of the LORD

So the boat that Jonah went to meet the sea to cross the sea. But Jonah was ready. I went to the bottom of the boat and was sleeping. In the meantime, the crew of the boat and the other passengers who had encountered the storm had no idea what to do and threw their things into the sea and were embarrassed, so that they could swallow who they were for their sins, and eventually Jonah won.

The Bible often draws lots. It seems like a good mourning in Korean these days, but it is not whether there is luck or not. It is the lot that people entrust their fate to what they do not know. That is, waiting for God's choice. Therefore, we know that this storm is not caused by God, or at least not by man.

People live in a world like the sea. In the meantime, I meet difficult things such as storm that I can not afford for myself. It is also called the World Wind. When we meet the world, we naturally pray that we can not do it for ourselves and that we will be able to overcome the difficulties that we have. The point is that when we pass through a world like the sea, we meet the waves.

This is not a different wind, but a rainbow that I met because of Jonah. Now this is Jonah who is going against the Word of God and going where he wants to be. In other words, it is not because of any other reason, but because of the disobedience to God's command. It is because people live and live a different life than the will of God.

Of course, the sea is not a storm because of the actions of a person who has stomped to cross the sea. But those who are regarded as a storm do not know the righteousness of God, so that the work of the world becomes a windfall to them. The world is sorrowful, but if you live without being obedient to God's righteousness, the work of the world becomes a windfall.

It is the same storm, but Jesus has walked on the storm. He has shown that what is happening in the world is not considered a storm. In other words, God's righteousness in his heart, and his righteousness to his own life, is that the world's storms are considered to be enough to win, not the difficulties and difficulties that come upon him.

Because the world's work can not be a blow to itself to those who know that everything in the world exists, and know that all things in the world are being run to take God's righteousness and shape. It is because the work that the father does not become the wind to the son. There is no father who gives a stone to ask for bread.

So the people of the boat who had Jonah picked up lots and saw Jonah. Then Jonah confesses that he is going against God's command and fleeing from God. 'Avoid the face of God ... 'This is the word I have seen anywhere. He said that Adam avoids the face of God even when he eats and avoids the good and bad things.

Then does God have a face? God does not have a face. Nevertheless, to avoid the face of God is to avoid "God's identity." This is because the face represents the person's identity. The identity of God that Jonah has escaped is that God has a love for all who made it to represent the glory of God. On the other hand, Jonah thought that he could not be saved by repentance on the basis of the present appearance of a man, that is, the appearance of Nineveh, who is a foreigner, an enemy, and a sinner.

The problem is that if you avoid God's righteousness, you will have a storm. If a person avoids or perverts God's identity or defines God as he thinks, then if he believes in the prescribed God, he will meet with the storm and be thrown into the storm.

This is what many people think is difficult and difficult to believe in Jesus. Jesus believed that he should go as a sail to a goodwill, but he did not want to get up, but he was forced to rise, and if he did not, he was afraid of punishment. It is thrown into the storm because we believe that blessing is given.

Because the identity of God is the God of Being, it is because the person is not the God who does not pay for what he does, because the person believes that he has escaped the face of God. God, who is God of Being, who asks a man to ask, "Who am I to you?", Who sees God's behavior as "where are you in the identity of being?" That is, going away from God's will and going against God's will.
