(요나 1:1-3) 요나의 불순종

하나님께서 요나에게 타락한 니느웨에 가서 멸망당할 것이라는 하나님의 뜻을 전하라고 말씀을 하셨습니다. 그런데 요나는 그 하나님의 말씀과는 달리 니느웨가 아닌 다시스로 가는 배를 타고 떠나게 됩니다. 하나님께서 그 뜻을 전하기 위하여 부르셨다는 것은 하나님께서 보실 때 하나님의 뜻을 잘 전할 자로 여기셨기에 택하셨을 텐데 왜 요나는 하나님께서 명하신 니느웨의 반대 방향이라고 알려진 다시스로 갔을까요?

북이스라엘 사람인 요나에게 적국인 앗수르의 큰 도시 니느웨는 구원은커녕 오히려 망하기를 바라는 것이 더 인간적인 마음일 것입니다. 우리는 요나의 불순종을 쉽게 이야기 합니다. 그냥 가기 싫어서 하나님의 명을 거역한 것이라고, 그리고 우리 사람은 다들 그렇게 하나님께 불순종하기도 하는 사람들이라고 말입니다. 하지만 요나의 불순종은 나름의 이유가 있었습니다. 그리고 그 이유는 오늘 우리도 다 가지고 있습니다.

많은 사람들은 하나님의 전지전능하심과 온전하심을 믿노라 말을 하면서 한편으로는 세상의 불공평하다고 말합니다. 그런데 같은 세상을 사는 사람들 중에 정치적인 이유나 또 여러 가지 이유로 인하여 자신과 적대적인 관계에 있는 사람들로부터 하나님께서 보호해주시기를 바라는 기도를 합니다. 그것은 다른 각도에서 보면 그들의 뜻은 이루어지지 않고, 하나님을 믿는 나의 뜻은 이루어지기를 바라는 마음입니다. 지금 요나의 마음이 그것입니다.

어쨌든 요나는 하나님의 명을 거역하고 자기가 원하는 대로 니느웨가 아닌 다시스로 떠났습니다. 요나는 바다로 가서 배를 탔습니다. 성경에서 바다는 늘 세상을 의미합니다. 바다는 물이 넘치지만 마시지 못하는 물이 넘치는 곳입니다. 세상을 살면서 사람 안에 넘치는 존재의 갈증을 세상의 것으로 채우려 평생을 힘쓰지만 마시면 마실수록 갈증이 나는 바닷물과 같이 세상의 것은 사람으로 하여금 더 갈증이 나는 것과 같기 때문입니다. 

그런 바다로 요나가 갔다는 것은 하나님의 뜻을 어기고 세상으로 갔다는 것입니다. 그런데 단순히 세상으로 간 것이 아니라 바다를 건너서 자기가 정한 자리로 가려했다는 것입니다. 하나님의 낯을 피하여 간 곳이 바다를 건너 자기가 원하는 자리로 가려고 했다는 것입니다. 바다를 건너야겠다고 한 것은 세상을 이기겠다는 것입니다. 이것은 단지 요나의 모습만이 아닙니다. 이것은 우리 모두의 모습입니다.

많은 사람들은 하나님을 믿습니다. 그리고 하나님의 뜻을 알려고 합니다. 그리고 또 한 가지 하나님을 열심히 믿고 잘 믿으려는 사람들은 하나님의 일을 하겠노라면 어디로 보내 달라고 합니다. 그렇게 해서 자신이 하나님을 위하여 대단한 충성을 하고 순종하겠다고 합니다. 그래서 뜻을 알려 달라고 간구합니다. 그러나 이것이 진정한 불순종입니다. 이것이 바로 요나가 자기 맘대로 다시스로 가려고 바다를 건너려 한 마음입니다.

사람이 이 땅에 태어났다는 것은 하나님이 보내신 것입니다. 적어도 하나님께서 나를 조성하시고 내가 살아가는 삶과 세상을 하나님이 주관하신다는 것이 믿음의 근간이라면 하나님께서 이 땅에, 이 삶을 주셨다는 것, 그것이 바로 보내심이고, 또 보내셨다면 보내신 뜻이 있는 것입니다. 따라서 인생이 하나님의 뜻과 말씀 중에서 가장 순종해야 하고, 가장 먼저 알아야 하는 가장 중요한 뜻은 우리가 무엇을 할지(Do)가 아니라 왜 나를 이 땅에 보내셨는지에 대한 것입니다. 이것을 어긴다면 제 아무리 대단한 것을 해 낸다고 해도 다 불순종인 것입니다.

그런데 사람들은 그 하나님의 뜻은 알려고 하지 않고, 자신이 하나님을 믿고 난 다음에 하나님을 위하여 무엇을 할 것인지, 무엇을 해야 하는지에 대하여 알려고 합니다. 이미 하나님께서 뜻을 가지고 이 땅에 보내셨는데, 또 다시 하나님께 자신이 무엇을 해야 하는지를 요구하고 있는 것입니다. 이미 하나님께서 성경을 통하여 사람을 향한 하나님의 모든 뜻을 다 말씀하셨는데 하나님을 믿는다는 사람들이 하나님께 더 내어놓으라고 요구하고 있다는 것입니다.

그리고 그 요구의 내용들이 하나님께서 생각하시는 것과 반대입니다. 요나가 하나님께서 명령하신 것과 반대로 간 불순종이 바로 그것과 같은 것입니다. 사람들은 존재의 하나님께 자꾸만 무엇을 하겠다고 하고, 무엇을 드리겠다고 말합니다. 그러면서 그 공로와 성과를 하나님께 드리겠다고 합니다. 

문제는 그렇게 행위의 공로와 소유의 드림으로 승부를 하는 세계는 하나님의 세계가 아니라 세상의 가치관입니다. 그것에 대하여 이긴 자가 되어서 하나님께 영광을 돌리겠다고 하는 것은 세상을 이기겠다는 것입니다. 요나가 세상을 상징하는 바다를 건너서 자기가 원하는 땅으로 가겠다는 것이 바로 이것을 말씀하시는 것입니다. 그것이 바로 요나의 불순종의 본질입니다. 그리고 그것은 오늘 많은 신앙인들이 가진 불순종이기도 한 것입니다.

Nineveh, the great city of Assyria, is a more humane mind for Jonah, a northern Israelite, to hope rather than to be saved. We easily talk about Jonah's disobedience. We do not want to go, we are against God's command, and we are all people who disobey God. But Jonah's disobedience had its own reasons. And that's why we have it all today.

Many people say that they believe in God's omnipotence and perfection, and on the other hand they say that the world is unfair. However, I pray that God will protect people who live in the same world from people who are in a hostile relationship with me for political reasons and for various reasons. It is from another angle that their will is not fulfilled, and that my will to believe in God is fulfilled. Now it is Jonah's heart.

In any case, Jonah rebelled against God's command and left for Nazareth, not Nineveh, as he wanted. Jonah went to the sea and boarded the ship. In the Bible the sea always means the world. The sea is full of water, but it can not drink. It is like living in the world and trying to fill the thirst of being abundant in the world for the rest of the world, but the world is like a thirsty person as the sea is thirsty as the drink is drunk.

Jonah went to such a sea that he went to the world in violation of God's will. But it was not simply going to the world, but crossing the sea and trying to get to the place that he decided. It is that the place that escaped from God's face crossed the sea and went to the place that he wanted. To cross the sea is to win the world. This is not just Jonah's appearance. This is what we all look like.

Many people believe in God. And to know the will of God. And those who are willing to believe and believe in God will ask God to send them where they will do His work. He says that he will have great loyalty and obedience for God. So I beg you to let me know what you mean. But this is true disobedience. This is Jonah's mind to cross the sea to go back to his own way.

It is God sent that man was born on this earth. If God is the foundation of faith that at least God builds me and lives and the world in which I live, God has given this life to this earth, it is sent, and if it is sent, there is a will. So life must be the most obedient of God's will and word, and the most important thing to know first is not what we do (Do) but why we sent it to this land. If I break this, I will be disobedient even if I do something great.

However, people do not know the will of the God and know what to do and what to do for God after he believes in God. God has already sent His will to this earth, and again, He is asking Him what He has to do. God has already said all the will of God to man through the Scriptures that he is asking those who believe in God to give more to God.

And the content of the request is the opposite of what God thinks. It is the same as Jonah's disobedience, as opposed to what God commanded. People continue to tell the God of existence what to do and what to give. He says that he will give his achievements and achievements to God.

The problem is that the world that compete with the merits of action and the dream of possession is not the world of God but the world's values. To be a winner of it and to glorify God is to win the world. This is what Jonah crosses the sea that symbolizes the world and will go to the land he wants. That is the nature of Jonah's disobedience. And it is also the disobedience of many believers today.
