성경은 앞서 말한 것과 같이 같은 이야기를 하고 있기에 하나님의 의를 알지 못하고 육신에 속한 사람은 그가 교회에 다니든, 목사든, 설령 남을 위하여 자기 몸을 불사르게 내어 준다고 해도 다 성령이 없는 사람일 뿐, 하나님 앞에서 그런 일과 행도 자체는 일말의 가치도 없는 것이라는 것입니다. 그런 것이 가치가 있으려면 그런 행위를 하는 사람의 마음 안에 하나님의 의가 있어서 그 의로 인하여 그런 행위를 하게 했을 때만 가치가 있는 것입니다. 그렇다는 것은 행위가 아니라 그 안에 있는 의의 문제라는 것이며, 또한 그렇다는 것은 우리 삶에 작은 부분, 누군가를 배려하여 문을 잡아 주는 것과 같은 것도 하나님의 의가 자기 본성이 되어 행한다면 하나님의 의는 없이 자기 몸을 남을 위하여 불사르게 내어 주는 것과는 천지차이의 가치를 가졌다는 의미인 것입니다.

사람들은 이런 이야기를 좋아하지 않습니다. 말 장난 같이 여깁니다. 하나님을 믿지 않지만 남을 위하여 전재산을 바치거나 죽는 사람이 하나님의 의를 가지고 문 잡아 주는 것보다 못하다는 것을 인정하지 않습니다. 그러나 바로 여기에 하나님을 믿는 믿음의 차이가 나는 것입니다. 하나님을 믿는다는 것이 어떤 것인지가 나오는 것입니다. 하나님을 믿는다는 것이 하나님의 의가 자기 안에 있어 그 의로 인하여 사는 삶이라는 것을 아는 사람은 그런 의문을 가지지 않습니다. 생각해보면 북한이 핵 미사일을 만드는 것은 대단한 기술이지만 그 기술이 우리나라나 다른 나라 사람들에게 대단한 것입니까? 의가 다르다는 것은 바로 그런 것입니다.

그러므로 사람 안에 하나님의 의가 있느냐 없느냐의 문제는 단순히 기적을 일으킬 믿음이 있느냐 아니냐와 같은 것이 아닙니다. 성령이란 신앙의 어떤 등급이나 수준이나 옵션이 아니라는 것입니다. 성령이 있다는 것은 그 사람의 모든 행위가 하나님 앞에서 의미 있는 존재가 되었다는 것이지, 어떤 순간, 어떤 상황, 어떤 문제를 하나님의 이름을 부르며 해결하는 능력과 같은 것이 아니라는 것입니다. 하나님의 이름을 부르며 산을 옮기는 것보다는 사람을 구분하여 당을 지을 이유가 없는 마음을 가진 것이 하나님 앞에 더 의미가 있다는 것입니다. 그게 아니라면 엘리야가 바위를 쪼개는 바람으로 나타나신 하나님을 만날 수 있어야 했을 것이기 때문입니다.

유다서를 이야기하면서 아니 성경에 대한 많은 이야기를 하면서 드린 말씀에서 이 육신을 보는 관점이 하나님과 사람이 다르다는 것을 너무나도 많이 이야기 했습니다. 바로 여기에 성령이 있는 사람과 아닌 사람의 차이가 있는 것입니다. 성령은 하나님의 영이시니 성령이 사람 안에 있다면 하나님과 안목이 같을 것이며, 그렇다면 하나님께서 만든 사람과 세상을 보는 안목과 가치관이 같을 것입니다. 그렇다면 당연히 이 육신에 대하여 하나님과 같은 생각을 가지고 있을 것입니다. 사람이 하나님의 영이 없는, 곧 성령이 없기에 하나님과 의견이 다른 것입니다.

성경이 말씀하고 있는 죄에서부터 모든 경계의 대상들, 시기와 분쟁에서부터 육신에 속한 것, 그리고 이방신을 섬기는 것이나 세상의 초등학문에 의지하는 것, 율법주의의 영지주의 그리고 오늘날 자본주의와 결탁하여 세상에서 성공하는 것이 하나님께 영광이라고 하는 것이나, 성경이 뭐가 부족한지 과학이나 인문학을 더해야 더 좋은 가치관을 가지게 된다는 것과 같은 다양하고 잡다한 모든 신앙적 문제의 근본 원인은 단 하나, 바로 그 안에 성령이 없기 때문입니다.
